The Student Senate is a legislative body that comprises half of the SGA Legislative Branch. Representation in the Senate is done by students representing the different colleges on campus. They are elected by their peers within their individual colleges at the end of each spring semester in order to start their term the following school year. One of the main responsibilities of the Senate is to research student issues within their colleges and the university as a whole. The Senate then prepares appropriate legislation to resolve the issues. Legislation passed within SGA is a formalized expression of the will of the student body. This legislation is then sent through university governance in hopes of changing the issues at hand to better student life at Virginia Tech.

If you ever have an issue with any aspect of your college please contact the Senators who represent your college. If you are interested in representing your college and need more information to please feel free to email me as at times we have to fill Senate seats. Being a Senator is a great way to get involved not only with SGA but also with your college and Virginia Tech as a whole. For more information, please email me at vikedvik@vt.edu.
